Darren's Photo Album:Nith River

These pictures are from a trip that Mike and I took on the Nith River on April 25, 2003. We started at Holland-Mills Road, just south of New Hamburg, and paddled to Township Rd. 14, just south of Plattsville. Mike took the pictures on his digital camera, and we tried to get one ever km, and every bridge that we passed under. Enjoy!

The canoe that we found upside down in the middle of the river. Mike got out and flipped it over so we could take a look. It didn't look too bad until Mike flipped it over, at which point it look like...

Canoe we found
Pretty beat up! Actually, it was really destroyed, so we just decided to leave it where we found it. I had considered bringing it home, but didn't think it was worth much in that condition. It probably wasn't worth much even when it was new, as it was a "SportChief" brand junk canoe, you know.. the kind with three keels :)

Our take out spot, at km 22.2! See if you can spot Mike's big blue van in this photo. This was the end of another great paddle. However, if you check out this link you will see that this is also the starting point of another trip we did on the Nith River in 2002. So you can read about that to see what the next 18 km stretch of the river is like!
